With our economy the way it is and so many people still out of work, it's no surprise why more and more folks and business are buying and making their products in America. And now that our favorite automaker here at Yark Nissan has jumped on the bandwagon, the pride just continues to grow.

In case you haven't heard, the brass at Nissan recently announced that they're working to assemble 85% of their vehicles sold in the US within their North American auto plants by 2015. Case in point: the domestic assembly of our 2013 Nissan LEAF models.

In January of this year, Nissan increased production of the LEAF at their plant in Smyrna, TN. More recently, they've been amping up production of the LEAF's electric motor at their plan in Decherd, TN. Now, instead of shipping specialized copper wire over from Japan, they've been buying it from a company in Fort Wayne, IN.

Not only does this make big financial sense for the company, but it means more jobs for American workers and lower prices for our American customers.

"The copper wire is one huge component (of the electric motor). Bringing that production here and those jobs here, it is better for everyone," says Coral Kanies, Production Manager at Nissan Decherd. "The magnets are the other huge component, and those are processed in Oklahoma, so having that all right here in North America really helps our lead times so we can supply this LEAF long term."1

So if you'd like to learn more about what Nissan has in store for their American operations, we'd be happy to fill you in at our dealership here in Toledo, OH, just down the way from Ann Arbor. Just a fair warning: the pride is contagious.
