There's no denying that electric cars are the future of the automotive industry. Case in point: the 2012 Nissan LEAF, which is available for a test drive at Yark Nissan of Toledo, proudly serving the greater Ann Arbor area. It's comfortable, quiet, and runs entirely on electricity.

Need something with a bit more cargo room?

Nissan is working on a new electric SUV that should fit your needs. Set to be unveiled as a concept at this year's Paris Motor Show, the Nissan TeRRA concept produces zero emissions, is fitted with an all-wheel drive system, and features a larger frame for increased utility.

"Our challenge was to take Nissan's strength in SUVs and crossovers forward into the zero-emissions era,"1 explains Francois Bancon, General Manager of Product Strategy and Planning. A challenge indeed, but one Nissan is clearly up for. To ensure the size and performance of an SUV can match the restriction of zero emissions produced, Nissan has equipped the TeRRA concept with a 4x4 fuel-cell electric powertrain. And while the concept at the show won't be a fully-functional example, the system has been heavily tested in other models previously.

The big question on everyone's mind, of course, is when the TeRRA will be available to the masses. There are currently no plans to have the TeRRA join the new Nissan lineup in the near future, but it company is well aware that demand is sure to grow after the official unveiling. That said, Yark Nissan advises you to stay tuned for any news concerning the TeRRA if it's managed to catch your attention.
