The All New 2011 Nissan Juke

At our Yark Nissan dealer in Toledo, Ohio, we are offering great deals on the new 2011 Nissan Juke. Read below for more details.

"Nissan has announced that its small, genre-defying Juke hatchback will start just under $19,000 when it goes on sale in October.

This car is hard to describe. Nissan refers to it as a crossover, but it is more like a Subaru Impreza or Suzuki SX4 competitor. As you can see in the pictures, it features bold styling with flared fenders, a sloped hatchback, and an aggressive, ready-to-spring stance.

It will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive, putting functionality behind the adventurous appearance and adding distinct appeal for snow-belt car shoppers. Nissan has configured the AWD system to split torque 50:50 between  the front and rear wheels. The torque can also be split  from side-to-side across the rear axle. When cornering, the system is configured to reduce understeer and enhance the vehicle’s cornering feel.

The powertrain is the first application of a 1.6-liter direct-injection, turbocharged four-cylinder with 188 horsepower and 177 lbs.-ft. of torque—up slightly from the original estimates at the New York auto show, where it debuted last spring. There will be a choice of a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission with S-Mode for more driver control. The Juke promises serious power in the class, as well as respectable fuel economy. The FWD model with a CVT is rated at 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway.

The Juke has a three-mode drive selector to allow its personality to be adjusted: Normal for everyday driving, Sport for a more intense performance feel, and Eco for maximum efficiency. These settings adjust throttle response, transmission (CVT mapping), and steering feel.

Nissan has given this small car a lot of visual personality inside, as well. The center console, as seen in the show car photo below, was inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank and finished in a high-gloss paint. The gauges are fitted to a dramatic instrument panel, and textured fabrics remind of sports gear.

Options will allow the car to be kitted up with leather upholstery, backup camera, smart key with push-button ignition, and navigation system.

Standard safety gear includes six airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control. "

" Nissan's new-for-2011 Juke is set to make its North American debut at tomorrow's New York Auto Show, and the small crossover's polarizing moon-buggy styling is sure to set tongues wagging, just as it did during its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. Having seen this vehicle in person already, we can tell you that its "Baby Predator" front end takes some getting used to, but it all comes together better than expected, and the interior seems surprisingly roomy and well-resolved.

Much smaller in person than one might think, the curvy ute is significantly shorter than vehicles like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 – it's even shorter than the new Hyundai Tucson and Nissan's own Rogue, not to mention the likes of Mitsubishi's Outlander Sport (itself another NY debut). The closest competitor we can think of is Suzuki's SX4 crossover, which is, believe it or not, actually longer than the Juke. In the end, we fully expect it to be cross-shopped with more conventional hatchbacks (Mazda3), as well as 'box cars' like the Kia Soul.

Featuring the first application of Nissan's 1.6-liter direct injected four-cylinder turbo in North America, it will be available with torque vectoring all-wheel drive, so it might just be the driver's car of the bunch, too. Featuring "180+ horsepower and 170+ lb-ft of torque," it will be available in both six-speed manual form and CVT with a sport setting. Unfortunately, the three-pedal setup will only be available in front-drive SV and SL trim, however. That torque-vectoring system? It defaults to a 50:50 front-to-rear split, but it can push power from side-to-side along the rear axle when situations warrant.

No official pricing has been revealed yet, but Nissan promises that the Juke will start at "just under $20,000." Want to learn more? Check out our high-res gallery below and the official press releases and spec sheet after the jump."
